Web Filtering

Good Morning,

 

I am looking at some solutions for web filtering, at the moment we have lightspeed and our license is about to run out. I have obtained another quote from lightspeed and smoothwall and smoothwall is cheaper and i do like them.

 

However my line manager says that we cannot afford to pay this at the moment. I have got options to pay over 3 years by education funding but my line manager still says i should look into other systems first.

 

What do you guys use

We found Smoothwall was stupidly expensive compared to the cost of Sophos UTM, and actually I liked Sophos' interface better. I'd highly recommend them. Smoothwall's price was literally 3 or 4 time more than Sophos.

I have been disappointed with Smoothwall over the last 18 months. The product is buggy and the interface is poor. It also lacks key features that a firewall should have like IPV6 and more advance NAT settings. The technical support is poor as well.

 

Its due up this year and I am looking for alternatives.

We've been from Dansguardian/Squid to Smoothwall to Bloxx and have now just purchased a Sophos UTM via Wave9. Before signing up for the Sophos we looked at many options, Netsweeper, Barracuda, Censornet, Opendium, Lightspeed, iBoss but the Sophos came up best not only for features but also pricing.

Some great reviews here, I have decided to get a price from sophos. for lightspeed and Smoothwall we have been quoted around 8K for 3 Years.
