Kitkatninja Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Hi Guy's, We need to renew our e-mail filtering... What filtering system do you guys use and do you recommend it? We currently use WatchGuard and are really pleased with them (with both price and functionality), however we were told by them that they are leaving the e-mail filtering business - hence why I'm looking... So... Over to you guys and gals -Ken
jertsy Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 We use Exchange online protection, its free with an EES agreement Its reduced the SPAM we were getting by a massive amount. 1
Kitkatninja Posted February 21, 2017 Author Posted February 21, 2017 Hi @jertsy, Do you know if is this for Office365, Exchange (onsite) both, etc?
jertsy Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 I have an onsite exchange server but also 365, its a hybrid environment and basically our mail gets routed through Microsoft's anti SPAM filters 1

We had a similar issues - we were using Lightspeed's email filtering, but they are now discontinuing that functionality. We now route our email through our Google domain, which seems to be working very well - spam gets filtered, and users get a spam summary report so they can mark emails as spam / not spam if they want. 1
TechMonkey Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 We currently pay for FuseMail which is an offsite relay. Seems to do a good job and it allows us to make sure emails are leaving and coming in OK It is great being able to say quickly and easily to someone complaining that our system lost their email that it never reached our borders let alone hit our servers. It also has the ability to hold emails for up to 14 days and allow webmail style access for nominated users if there is an issue with our onsite mail server. It is something we will review if we move to O365/Gmail as it seems like doubling up once you move to the cloud. 1

timbo343 Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 We use GFI mailessentials and have done for years. It works great on our spam.
dhicks Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Can I ask how you set this up so that users get a spam summary? I didn't set that bit up myself - I'll have to have a rummage around the settings in the Google Admin Console. 1
synaesthesia Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 We're using the standard Office 365 stuff but we're fully 365. However prior to that we ran Zimbra and after EMBC's demise moved the filtering of that to Exchange Online and found it reasonably effective.
ITGURU Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 (edited) We're using Censornet email filtering as also use their proxy server software. cut down on SPAM massively from our old county provider. Just runs in the cloud, filters the mail then forwards it on to our local exchange server. Users get any blocked mail quaratine release emails. Had 0 issues with it Edited March 1, 2017 by ITGURU

ITGURU Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Cloud is good for something's like that. Do you use it as a mx hold if your internet feed were to go down too? They have an emergency inbox where you can login to retrieve queued mail if However I have never had to use it. With having a local exchange server all mail still works, users may just notice a delay if not receiving external mail, but as mentioned they have 3 MX records for redundancy and never had any issues since having the product.
