Strange name issue - Mac printing from Google

Hi,

I'm having a strange random , occurrences of users names showing as troller daemon instead of the user who sent the job.

On the web browser for the printer RIP - the name comes up as game controller. Everywhere else the user name is correct - ie signing in to the AD bound Mac , Papercut etc.

 

Things that have changed : rebuilt all macs to El Capitan and did updates .

 

So far , to resolve the issue I've re installed Chrome, cleared browsing data and done a minimum of 3 reboots for it to show the name again.

Know it's a browser issue as doesn't happen with Safari. But as we are a GAFE school that is not really an option as everything we do is google chrome based.

 

Any ideas? TIA

Hi, I did that for one of the users (following advice on a mac thread) but that didn't fix the issue straight away. So it seems to be re -install Chrome, clear browsing data and several reboots. But this doesn't guarantee a permanent fix it seems..

 

We use GAFE - I have administrative rights to all of it... Should I be looking in there? We use macbooks for staff and windows laptops for support staff - only the macbooks having this issue..

I tested on our Chrome and I can't replicate it unfortunately. I know you can set Google Chrome master preferences at /Library/Google/Google Chrome Master Preferences. Do you have one of those?

 

The only other thing I can think of is how is the print queue added to the Mac? Is Chrome, at times, detecting the printer and printing over a different protocol?
