Badaz52 Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Hi, I am currently testing a windows 10 image and have run into something rather odd. If I log in as a member of staff the proxy information I have configured via GP Internet Settings version 10+ is used and both internet explorer and microsoft edge browse just fine. If I log in as a student user I can get on the internet through Internet explorer but edge tells me it cannot connect to the proxy server. Has anyone come across this? we are using roaming profiles for staff and mandatory for students, both cache locally.
tberty Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Can you tell us the type of student account? It's a standard account or administrator account?
CHiLL Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 We don't have this problem - We are however using transparent proxy, so actual proxy details aren't set - only other specific settings. I'll see if I can set up test accounts using manual proxy settings and seeing if I can replicate your issue.
ReBoot Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 I have exactly the same problem. Mandatory profile with internet settings applied by GPP. IE11 and Chrome are working fine but Edge reports a proxy error. If I connect directly to the internet I then get a "cannot connect to the proxy" error suggesting that Edge is actually trying to connect to the proxy and has the correct settings. I'm now really confused as I just logged in again and hey presto Edge is now working ! I don't seem to be able to break it now. It looks like Edge should work as I had read that some were suggesting that Edge was broken when setup with a manual proxy.
ollyyllo Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 I think I had simlar problems, so I resorted to using the following registry edits instead, i have had no issues since and works across edge, ie, win7 and win 10. HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ProxyEnable D-Word= 1 HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ProxyServer REG-SZ= http="YOUR PROXY":80;https="YOUR PROXY":80;ftp="YOUR PROXY":80 HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ProxyOverride REG-SZ= "YOUR LOCAL EXCEPTIONS"

It is strange mine is working OK now too, just did a reboot and everything went OK.
free780 Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 Sounds like the a log out and login fixes it. Similar to if you push out file associations via GPO only and not using dism.
