Chrome as default browser

I'm trying to set Chrome as the default browser by GPO using the method described here: https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/7009292?hl=en

 

Here's my .xml file:

 

 

For some reason, it just doesn't work.

 

I find it strange because I'm using the exact same technique to set Acrobat to open PDF files by default and it works flawlessly.

I verified that the GPO applies correctly by doing a GPResults and everything seems fine.

I'm using Windows 10 Enterprise 1607 fr-CA all patched up to the latest build.

 

Has anyone experienced the same problems or does anyone have an idea why this wouldn't work as expected?

Found the problem.

 

I put all the configs in 1 file and it works. So, either my file for Chrome had a problem, or you can't have 2 file association xmls applying in different GPOs on the same computer. I'm voting for the later.

Have you also enabled the Set Google Chrome as Default Browser GPO under Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Google > Google Chrome?

 

Edit. Yeah. You're right. It has to be one XML file.
