Sanm2009 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I want to install a KMS host server for Office 2016 activations. I have downloaded the KMS Host ISO from volume licensing portal. We currently don't have a KMS server on site. Do I need to just run the KMS host vbs file from the ISO. or do I need to do something else first to make the server into a KMS host?
snagrat Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Just run that and it will get the server activating Office. You may need to open the firewall if not already on port 1688
mikeyd101 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I was looking at this the other day briefly in between jobs I just added Volume Activation Services Role and downloaded and installed VMAT. I got stuck around the CSVLK key (host key) requirement as i'm not sure where to find it in the volume licensing site or if you have to request it from MS. I was also chatting to our friendly Region guy and he warned be about the minimum activation requirements, think its something like 5 servers or 20-25 windows 7 / 10 clients. Not sure if / what the minimum office activations are. The other option if you don't get KMS working is to embed the MAK into the office install (setup.exe /admin) i think allows creation of .mst you just add to addons? extras? updates? folder of the install source location.
Sanm2009 Posted February 10, 2017 Author Posted February 10, 2017 Minimum client for activations is 5 clients. Office 2016 KMS key for Volume licensing agreements needs to be requested from MS - 08009179016 Problem with MAK is that Auto Activation doesn't seems to be working, which is why I am looking at KMS
Jobos Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Further to this I want to create a KMS host for activating Office 2016 and Windows 10 and the host will be running on server 2016 which has been activated using a MAK key. I already have the KMS keys from MS. How would I go about this please?
