Cant easily entering Google Auth 2 factor number on an iPhone before timout

Just setting up Google 2 factor using the Google authenticator app on an iphone. All installed OK but by the time the user has seen the auth number, hit the home button, opened the mail app, signed in, typed in the password the 1 minute auth number has expired.

 

On my Android I would simply flick between the auth number and the email page asking for the auth number, but I don't have an iPhone and the user does not know if it's possible to flick between paused apps in this way.

 

We did try to open the page in mail program requesting the auth number, then press the home button, open the Google auth app and copy the number, then press the home button and select the email app listed, but it simply opened the email apps default email page, not the page requesting the auth number.

 

Sorry for what is probably a very basic usage on an iPhone, but if you don't have one its a bit of a guessing game.

If you double tap the home button that should bring up the app switcher screen and you should be able to flick back and forth. That's what I do.
