Got a dodgy text from "Apple" this morning

Just a heads up really.

 

I got a text this morning purporting to be from "Appleid" saying that my appleid had been used to sign in on another device and giving me a link to click on for password reset. It was a text, not an iMessage.

 

Needless to say that my appleid shouldn't have been used anywhere else.

 

I didn't use the link and reset my password by other means, just in case, but I'm pretty sure the text was a scam.

I had a fake text from 'HMRC' saying I had a tax refund coming and to click on this link and enter my details blah blah. I have never had any before so weather there are a few doing the rounds now I dont know.

This one arriving on an iPhone was too easy to believe...

 

HMRC is a different matter. I'm kind of used to ignoring the emails allegedly from them.

I had an iPhone one a couple of weeks ago. checked my itunes account and all was ok, also never had an email (which I've had before when logged in from a new device) so concluded it was a scam and deleted it.

 

Also had a metropolitan police web page wanting £100 iTunes voucher to be paid before I could use the ipad again (It happened after my partner was searching for "personal statement" for her cv). I couldn't close any of my web pages, I deleted the web data in settings, rebooted it and all was fine after that.
