Executable File blocking in shared network drives

At the school I work at we have been noticing a lot of students saving game .exe files and other files they shouldn't be into the shared area where we keep resources for them to use. Is there any way we can block them from running any .exe files from within that shared drive?

iirc file server resource managed can do this its part of windows server just needs enabling on the server that hosts the files and rules applying/writing (its part of fileand storage services at least on 2012r2 its on earlier server versions (and i presume 2016) but not 100% sure where)

File Server Resource Manager will do this as mentioned but if the shared area is where you put resources for the students then why do the students have write access to it? Only place our students have write access to here is to their own home drives and we use FSRM to restrict what they can save there.

We allow them write access because they sometimes share work there that the teacher needs to be able to see too, rather than it being mass emailed to them, the teacher just goes to the student shared drive and looks at their work there.
