Help with post-installation for active directory services after upgrade

Recommended Posts

I have a test server that I upgraded to 2012r2 from 2008 r2. After the upgrade, I got this error:

Events refresh message: Events from Adam.events.xml could not be enumerated.

I was told from a forum member to do a post configuration of the active directory Lightweight directory services using the wizard. I am just starting to learn server administration. When I run the active directory Lightweight directory services wizard, step 1 gives me two choices:

1.A unique instance

2. A replica of an existing instance.

Which one do I select?

Step 2 asks me to give the instance a name. What name do I give it?

Step 3 is the port number setup:

LDAP port number

52785

SSL port number:

52789

I will use the defaults.

Step 4 ask me if I want to create an application directory partition for this instance. Do select yes or no?

Step 5 asks me where I would like to save the files associated with AD LDS. I will use the defaults.

Step 6 asks me to select the service account. Do I select, “network service account”, or “this account”

Step 7 I will choose the currently logged on administrator

Step 8 asks me to import LDIF files. It’s a long list, which one do choose?

If you need any additional information, please let me know.

Thank You.
