Hi Guys,

I currently have a Epson EB-410We that is asking for the lock code. I have tried to enter the generic codes such as 1793 and 0000 but the keypad on the remote will only accept certain numbers (Unfortunately not the ones I require!).

I've tried two or three remotes, holding the num key down but nothing.

Has anyone experienced something similar before?

Thanks,

Andrew.

Yes at my last school, but that was because I wasn't holding down the number lock button on the remote while typing. Think that one liked a specific remote model revision too.

I thought with Epson you could just unplug for 5mins and it will forget the lock code?

Don't think so. If you lock out the start up by entering the code incorrectly too many times you can re-arm it by unplugging but that doesn't bypass the need for a code.

Ah yes that is what I recall now

We have a few different Epson models and we find that some of them are quite particular in making you use the correct remote for that model. I'd try gathering any alternative Epson remotes that you can lay your hands on and trying them. It may be that the remotes have been swapped in the past and that the teacher hasn't noticed as the buttons that they require still work. Failing that, you could try connecting to the projector through it's LAN port (or RS232 if it's an older model).

As mentioned previously, holding the Num button whilst typing the code (typically 1793) can also be necessary on some models.

Also watch the screen as you put the code in - if the remote is worn or the receiver is flakey, I've found that sometimes not all of the numbers are registered and you can't see which one was missed.
