BIOS alternative for HP Pavillion 15 gaming laptop

Hi all,

 

The BIOS in HP Pavillion 15 gaming laptop is the typical AWFUL blue one you get on HP's.

Hardly any settings can be modded although it is UEFI.

 

Anyone know of a key combo to get more advanced settings on HP Pavillions.

 

Or flash it with a proper UEFI ?

What settings do you want to 'unlock'?

Overclocking would be one.

Power settings.

Dual boot.

 

Not running Windows - Gentoo Linux.

 

Seriously the BIOS almost does nothing.

You on the latest HP BIOS? Best I could find was some discussions on Notebook Review.

There's coreboot https://www.coreboot.org/

I'd run something like heavyload and monitor the temperatures before thinking about overclocking. There's not normally much thermal headroom in laptops. The heat pipe tends to cover both CPU and GPU. Increasing the temperature in one will increase it on the other.
