SQL Server 2008R2 Management Tools install error

I have been tasked with installing some software which requires an SQL instance. The instance has installed fine. However, the Management Tools are not installing due to an error to do with not being able to find the machine.config XML file for .NET. I have narrowed it down to an erroneous "" in the path. However, I can't seem to find where this path is defined to edit it.

 

The path the SQL installer is trying to find is "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\\CONFIG\machine.config"

 

Have highlighted in bold where the erroneous backslash is.

I'm sure I have come across this sort of error before but cannot think for the life of me how I fixed it. Does anyone know where this path is defined so that I could manually edit to the correct path?
