Techie2000 Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Does anyone know how to safely delete duplicate staff within SIMS? I have some setup with just a name, others with employment details and some with loads of details that I can't delete. The problem started when our old SBM created duplicates without a contract, so next time she logged in she couldn't see them as active staff (although they were in the system without an employment start date). I've been looking for answers and the only solution I found was on the local SIMS support site which told me to modify the SQL database - which I'd like to avoid!
Vegas Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 We just add 3x 'zzz' to the the start of their surname and remove their staff code. 1
Linfit Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Its virtually impossible to remove them from SIMS altogether - if they have been used for anything it won't let you delete them. You can hide them from Manage Classroom Staff though, by marking them as inactive or removing assignability. If the duplicates have a date of leaving in then they shouldn't appear in the list of current staff anyway.
bobsmith Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 It's pretty easy to delete them, but you'll have to dive in and out of different parts of SIMS to clear out pesky data. The trick is to amalgamate any data you need to keep onto the most populated record first. You can always go the delete staff screen and view the report - it won't delete until it's done an analysis of what data they have anyway. 1
Esteban_Child_of_the_Sun Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Generally you only want to delete staff who have never arrived at your school for whatever reason. If they are a duplicate then you want to merge them (see attached document on how), the patch is available on SOLUS 3 but you'll have to contact your SIMS support for the DBDiagnosis script. Merging is much easier than deleteing staff record with history and it even works with SIMS Dinner Money now as well.SIMS Database Employee Merge Utility.pdf 1
