Sophos Web Gateway

Good Morning everyone,

 

A colleague of mine is currently looking at Sophos Web Gateway as a web filtering solution. Does anybody on here use it and would you be able to give me your thoughts on the system? Does it tick all the boxes with regards to Internet Watch foundation block lists / prevent duty? How do you find the reporting process, the SSL inspection and technical support? Does it include any application specific controls? We are setting up a trial this afternoon and going to have a play but I thought I would come here and get some opinions from you guys.

 

I'm personally leaning towards Iboss but ultimately I need to think about value for money and Sophos seems to be coming in quite a lot cheaper than Iboss so I really need to justify the extra spends to the man with the cheque book.

Hi Jonny,

 

We tend to provide web gateway as part of a holistic UTM managed service. Ref Web, features are great, yes compliant with IWF and Prevent. Reporting is as configurable as you need. You can control applications. Ref technical support, I guess that depends on how and where you buy it. You can buy SOPHOS support as an extra, but our customers don't need to. If you've no experience of one before, it might be worth ensuring that your vendor is willing to configure and install the appliance, rather than just a kit sale.
