j224 Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 Hello, I've been using Configurator 1.7.2 rather than updating to the latest, simply because it has been working and I've heard of issues with version 2. Anyway, yesterday the iMac was updating some apps on an iPad with Configurator open, when we had a site-wide power cut. Now when I try to launch Configurator I get the the message "Could not refresh the iOS update catalog. The store's response could not be parsed." Time Machine hasn't been turned on so I can't roll back using that. Any ideas? Thanks.
Griff Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Could it be something on your proxy blocking it from contacting the Apple servers? maybe try connecting to your phone as a hotspot...long shot but most issues we have with Apple products are solved by us bypassing our proxy servers lol....

Thanks for the suggestion. It actually worked! It just seems really strange that Configurator was working perfectly well before the powercut. Nothing has been changed on our internet connection or proxy settings so why it would suddenly have issues is a mystery. So glad it hasn't screwed up the database files! 1

Glad it worked bud I am no expert but I guess it could be Apple have changed server or something we have given up trying to get their stuff unblocked on proxy so we just tether to our phones when doing a lot of setups or logins with Apple stuff.
j224 Posted December 6, 2016 Author Posted December 6, 2016 Surely if it was Apple changing their server then a lot more people on here would be having the same issue.
Joanne Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 I've found AC2 to be far superior to 1.7... give it a go! (even though you don't need to now)
j224 Posted December 6, 2016 Author Posted December 6, 2016 (edited) I've found AC2 to be far superior to 1.7... give it a go! (even though you don't need to now) Ok, I guess they've sorted out the teething issues now. I just need to find out what IP I need to unblock to get it working again! Then maybe I will update to AC2. It does have a really poor rating on the App Store though... Edited December 6, 2016 by j224
Joanne Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 I used to have a lot of problems with it and it's not perfect, but then I couldn't use 1.7 to get the iPads how I wanted them soooo.... best of a bad bunch?
j224 Posted December 6, 2016 Author Posted December 6, 2016 Spoken to Apple who have said they've not changed any IPs at their end, so it must be something to do with the iMac itself or our network. If it's our network, it seems strange that something would have changed since the powercut on Friday and only affected Configurator. They've suggested installing it on a different Mac but I can't compare like-for-like because I can't download version 1.7 anymore. I have been using Yosemite, but Sierra is needed to upgrade to AC2 so I'll have to update the Mac before I can see if AC2 opens without the error!
j224 Posted December 7, 2016 Author Posted December 7, 2016 Just a quick update for anyone following this thread- I've now installed Sierra and tried to run AC 1.7 but it showed a crash report rather than the error message I was getting on Yosemite. So I've installed AC2 and running through the setup. Is there anything I need to know that may screw up the current setup I have on the iPads, or is it all a smooth transition? It's notifying me that I no longer need to download spreadsheets. We have a small amount of iPads so thus far I have not been using MDM, only Configurator. Thanks.
Joanne Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 you might have to contact Apple and get your redeemable codes transferred to VPP/MDM/AC2 friendly license things. I had to buy some apps again because of that
