Office 365 Licences Deselcting Themselves

Has anyone come across the issue lately where a users licences in Office 365 appear to deselect themselves?

 

for example, all of our students have the 'Office 365 Education for Students' licence, but over the last couple of weeks a lot of them have found that the 'Exchange Online' or 'Office Online for Education' parts of it has been deselecting themselves, or in some cases the whole of Office 365 Education for Students has been deselected.

 

I raised a support case with Microsoft who told me it's because we have a hybrid Exchage environment, so the Office 365 licences are only 1 month trial licences initially after migrating our users mailboxes to the cloud. After the month trial ends, i have to assign the licences again (seemed a bit odd, but I took his word for it), he gave me a powershell script to reassign all the licences again and it seem to apply everything to all of our users. The next day however, some students were compalaining they couldn't access their emails again, and sure enough, within the admin centre their Exchange licences were missing.

 

The odd part is, that if i revert back to the old admin centre and re-assign their licences on an individual basis, so far they seem to be sticking. It's going to be a pain doing that for every signle student, but I wondered whether anyone else has encountered the same thing? At the moment my team are all using the old admin center and so far so good.
