Netsupport have emailed out today with a black friday deal of half price licences on Netsupport Notify which looks like it could help with a couple of communication issues we have. We're already using DNA and NSS so we comfortable with the software in general and level of support.

Firstly are there any users here actively using it - anything I should know? Have you licensed all you machines or just staff perhaps?

Secondly perhaps @Al_NetSupport could post some screen captures of using the latest console (some of your videos seem to be out of date) to send messages to specific users.

Obviously I'm looking for fairly quick replies. TIA

We've bought Notify and I know of another local school who use it. Support seem very good- the few times I've had to contact them, it's clear that they've known the software inside out.

For us the license fee (even non-Black Friday) was so cheap it was worth having to help tick some boxes in our lockdown procedure.

If you do go ahead, when installing the controller on your server, it may ask you to activate over phone. A chap at NetSupport has told me that all you need to do is close the controller and open it again, and then it'll activate over the internet.

Hi Irritable Tech,

Thanks for promoting this offer for us :) - we hadn’t planned to put it on Edugeek (but it's a good idea)

With regards to the solution, it is used by many schools, NHS trusts and businesses (including Michelin, Telefonica and Ricoh and many more).

You can see a list of some of our customers here: NetSupport Notify - Desktop Alerting Solution

The concept is to allow designated staff to quickly communicate messages securely and reliably to inform groups of users of security issues, server issues or perhaps even of visitors onsite etc. There is also real-time feedback on who has acknowledged the message and a log is saved so when someone says “I didn’t know the mail server was going offline” you can say “you did as you read the message sent to you at 3:03pm yesterday!”

Messages can be also customised with your school logo, and displayed full screen on your digital signage if you want, you can even schedule them so perhaps each Monday at 8:00am when you do a fire alarm test you can remind everyone 10 minutes before.

There are apps for iOS and Android so you can send a messages whilst on the move and the solution is really simple to setup and manage.

The other thing is that even before our “Black Friday” offer the solution was very affordable (It works out at around £1 per device for a perpetual license)

I appreciate time is short so if you are interested the best thing would be to call Tom or Sam in our sales team who will be more than happy to talk you through it etc.

Orders need to be placed TODAY

p.s. We hadn’t mentioned to Al_NetSupport that we were doing this so I can imagine the look on his face as he reads these posts (sorry Al)

Thanks @Matt_NetSupport - I'll give Tom a call. I'm really interested to see how it can be used for direct messaging - contacting a small list of users on the network as well as the mass messaging. I can't seem to find a screen shot of that (or video) in the latest version.

Hi Irritable Tech,

Thanks for calling...

Sam will respond to you directly but for the benefit of anyone else reading this thread:

Using NetSupport Notify you can send a message to users or computers either individually or in a group. You can group machines/users using Active Directory if you wish and machines/users can be in multiple groups. For example: you could send a message to the group "library" and all the machines in the library would get the message, alternatively, you could create a group "first aiders" containing users and messages targeted at these users would be displayed to them only. If a first aider were logged on in the library they would get messages sent to library computers or to first aiders.

You can also search for users and target them specifically with a message.

Looks like the team have been busy getting into the "Black Friday" spirit. You go out of the office for a couple of days and before you know it.... they have :censored: your retirement plan :D - Just kidding, i am glad the offer has been so well received.

Anyway ref screenshots :

So you start by using either the Windows Desktop app, browser based app or mobile app ( IOS or Android) to create an alert you want to send, you can customise the design and logos to match your school, and there are different templates for everything from Urgent messages to system announcements.

You can create repeat messages, if they always need to happen at the same times of day or week

And then assign custom sounds as well as visuals

You then choose to send to all devices, just certain departments or users and even if its just to be displayed on large info panels, and then once sent, you can track and report on where the message was displayed but also, the important bit is that you can track who has seen and acknowledged the messages. Its a really good security feature in a school as well as a tech tool for " email server is down don't need to call us" or " Mr Smith is needed in reception now" vs "Security warning stay in your classroom"

And of course this is what your staff or users see

Happy to honour the special black Friday offer for all schools for the next few days and of course, as with all our products you can download and try free first.

Hope that helps clarify, but happy to discuss 1;1 if anyone has any questions.

Al.
