Techie2000 Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 I've been asked to look at an alternative tablet devices for classes to use - we currently use iPads however the most obvious downside is the cost per device. Has anyone had any dealings with other tablets in schools on a large scale? Are they worth it in the long run or is it better just to stick with iPads? We use meraki for our MDM and currently use AC2 to deploy the iPads. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
JOrdan01070 Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Have a look at learnpads it you can get the staff to use them properly they are great and you manage them through the learnpad website.
Techie2000 Posted November 24, 2016 Author Posted November 24, 2016 Thanks I will have a look - at first glance the first obstacle would be the ability to download our own apps - such as Lexia?
JOrdan01070 Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 There are two ways. 1 Ask learnpad to add the app you want, this can take some time. 2 Do it your self. With the learnpads you unlock one setup google play and install the the app you want run the a learnpad app, which will allow you to upload the app to the learnpad site then you can push the app out to all the other learnpads. Hope that helps. 1
CESIL Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 (edited) Yep, Learnpads here as well. The ability to manage them from a webpage is fantastic. I also love being able to configure them using QR codes. The latest models with wireless charging are proving much more successful than our first batch. We only have about half of those working due to ham fisted eejits breaking the USB sockets by forcing the cable in upside down! Edited November 24, 2016 by CESIL 1
