Hi,

In the Curriculum is it asking for year 5 and 6 to design a mobile app and the create it. Can anyone recommend any good site or software that we can use for this.

Thanks

App Inventor is ok - has a scratch-like coding interface. It would be worth signing up for Google Apps so that you can easily create each pupil a google account. Also, the emulator can be a bit tricky to get working - we needed some proxy exceptions to get it going.

There's also MS touch develop, which looks good but I haven't had much experience with it.

Edit: I would also consider narrowing the choice of apps they can develop to 2 or 3 apps that you have a reasonable idea how to implement yourself. Giving them free rein to develop anything they like could end up being very difficult to support in class.

Does AppShed have any support for iPads?

Obviously Apple wouldn't let you install self developed apps to the iPads but I was thinking emulation of a lesser device?

We're a 1-1 iPad school but we're having to use App Inventor for this part of the curriculum which relies on developing Android apps!
