Say Goodbye To The MS-DOS Command Prompt / Windows cmd.exe deposed by PowerShell

Right click Taskbar, select Settings, This should bring up Personalization -> Taskbar options. Turn on 'Replace Command Prompt with Windows PowerShell in the menu when I right-click the start button or press Windows key+X'. Once you have done that, try again. :)

Not if you have redirected Start Menu. I just get a missing shortcut error!

 

Well if you are silly enough to redirect things in the names of ease and security... ;)

Just create the folder

%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Windows PowerShell

And pop in a shortcut called

Windows PowerShell

And point it to

%windir%\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe

 

Bingo :)

I know, I just have these mad moments and can't help myself.

 

Ta, all working now. It's really annoying when these third party solutions don't integrate with Microsoft properly or follow MS best practice. Maybe one day.
