Standalone Macbook Air - Safari persists in reverting to Yahoo Search

Our Art Teacher has a Macbook Air and both in school and at home her Safari Browser Search Tool keeps reverting to Yahoo. She is pretty switched on with Macs and all attempts by her so far haven't resolved this one. Any suggestions please?

Could be a browser hijacker that is making the change. Can you run a malware scan on the device?

Just to confirm is this setting?

 

If so i would try closing Safari, delete ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.safari.plist

Yep, That's the one she uses. Every time she set's it to Google then it flips back to Yahoo.

Likely Adware or Cookie issue, I'd reset Safari.

Every time she sets it to Google then it flips back to Yahoo.

Does she have Java installed? That can change the search engine and/or the homepage to Yahoo. You need to check the box pictured below to get it to stop.
