garethEds Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 So I've been using the WSUS Clean script written by Adam Marshall and it has worked wonders on my WSUS server. It got me wondering what other scripts of pure brilliance are out there. I've used WSUS for a fair number of years and due to not having problems have never searched for scripts - so was delighted when I found Adam's work. What else is there that I'm not looking for? What scripts are being used by EduGeekers that work wonders for the networks they run? I'd be interested to know. Thanks Gareth

AJWhite1970 Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 A link to the script would be nice as I would like to give it a go myself. It's a Spiceworks script and yes it does work wonders on free space https://community.spiceworks.com/scripts/show/2998-adamj-clean-wsus 2
garethEds Posted November 3, 2016 Author Posted November 3, 2016 does this actually get the size down to something less silly than the 100's of gbs i seem to end up with even after running the cleanup tool repeatedly? Hi @sted - without a doubt it is one of the best scripts I have used. The first run cleared by WSUS and then I run it once a week. I suppose it could be run less. Gareth
Knil92 Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 This isnt necessarily to do with running networks, but I use a script I created for when we take over a new schools sims support and the LA or previous support provider dont want to hand over the sa password for SQL. I made a front end GUI for it, and the script allows us to schedule in a password reset, when there is no one in the school. I also have a script that uses the same GUI that allows us to create a SQL account that has SA privileges. Its quite handy because previously I would have to try and enter the sql instance in single user mode and hope nothing else connected before I do, and then run queries etc.... but the GUI allows me to open a .exe file and type in a password I want and a few seconds later its been reset, or I can schedule it to happen over night using the script so there is no downtime for the school.
