NIC disappears and reappears between laptop boot!

Ok this is a really odd one.

 

I have a laptop, running Win 10 Education v1511, I boot it and the NIC (Realtek PCIe FE Family) works fine, I reboot it and the NIC is not present (nothing in Device Manager), I reboot and its there, reboot and its gone etc etc and repeats and repeats.

 

Windows logs show nothing apart from complaining about lack of connectivity.

 

I am a bit stumped as to where to start looking at this one?

its not a bios setting to make it so wifi and lan arnt used at the same time is it? Granted id expect that to disable the wifi but worth a look)

Thanks but no, nothing like that in BIOS.

 

 

So weird, its every boot without fail! :S

Several things come to mind -

 

- Update the BIOS

- Update the NIC drivers

- Remove the battery and have a coffee

 

- Then put the battery back in and re-test. Failing this, re-image, just in case it's Windows.

 

Out of curiosity also, if you boot to a Win PE environment, is the NIC always available? If yes, it would prove my theory it's a Windows install issue.
