angrycomputingteacher Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Hello, I've recently installed PDQ Deploy on my workstation and I have attempted to use it to install some packages. Although when I try to deploy software on it I get a 'fail to connect to target share' error. I've looked at the sharing stuff but it seems it is still not working. I'm thinking this could be something to do with Windows Firewall.
thimon Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 We've got it at work and works we'll. we had the same error as we've got software and batch files files on our NAS which is where the installs were pointing towards. Try PDQ's support as they're brilliant, they've always got back to me same day. In the end I moved the software and batch files locally to fix the problem, I'll look at implementing their fix after half term.
AJWhite1970 Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Are you able to access the Admin$ share on the workstation? PDQ needs File and printer sharing installed for distributions to work. Also check the following are allowed in the workstation firewall. Allow inbound file and printer sharing exception Allow ICMP exceptions (Inbound Echo Request is needed)
angrycomputingteacher Posted October 30, 2016 Author Posted October 30, 2016 I managed to get it working. Turns out no one could access the computer in question. I used the local admin account and it worked.
