Office 2016 - Outlook for french canadians

We have a problem with Outlook 2016. We installed the french version because we are a french school in Quebec, Canada. Unfortunately when we print from Outlook 2016 with the default settings (Memo style), it tries to use A4 as the paper format and the printers will always give an error because it expects US Letter and not A4.

 

Anyone came around this problem and has a solution? It is really annoying for users.

 

The only "solution" I found was to overwrite the OutlPrnt file in every user profile but it is not really a solution we want to apply as it causes other problems.

 

There doesn't seem to be a french canadian version of Office 2016 Pro...

Outlook should just pull from your printer default settings.

 

What's it show in your printer settings at when you look at it via Control Panel?

Everything is working perfectly fine with other Office applications like Word, Excel etc because those applications actually pull the settings from the printer. But Outlook 2016 is different. There is this new concept of the "Memo Style" that stores the printing preferences and it is the source of the problem in this case. Outlook 2016 is the only application that causes this problem and it is the only application that uses the memo style for printing.

Unfortunately... that's the only thing I can find, apart from changing it manually.

 

@Steve21, usually that would be the case but Office has a Table Style and Memo Style which are set to a paper type by default. I believe this issue has been around since either 2007 or 2010. The settings are stored in the %AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook\OutlPrnt file.

Is there still the "international settings" programme with Office 2016?

 

I vaguely recall the dim and distant past with, Office 2003 or XP probably, there was a separate module in the start menu which you could use to sort such settings.

That's a good point... it might be the Office Customization Tool these days... though I can't even find that at the moment.

Did have a look for GPOs, but unfortunately didn't appear to be any ADMX settings to control this that I could see.

"ish" If you delete the file and re-open outlook you'll find it recreates it. So where are you saying it's pulling those details from in the first place? It's from the Region settings.

 

Unless you've already changed the file it'll default to the region standard. Try it and you'll see what I mean:

My region settings are set to "Français (Canada)" under the Formats tab and Canada under the Localisation tab and "Français (Canada)" under regional settings in the administration tab. (Win 10)

 

Where else should I set regional settings?

 

When I delete the file, it gets recreated and A4 is the default paper format.
