chromedome Posted October 24, 2016 Author Posted October 24, 2016 Complete new set up laptop is using windows 10 education, server 2012r2 I had to manually tell the laptop the DNS address if this helps
DJ-1701 Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Ok, so as you stated it's been added to the Domain, it sounds like it can see the Domain Controller. Are you trying to login with a Domain account or the Local machine account? If it's the latter, then you will need to put dot backslash in front of the username. For example: .\JBloggs If you are trying to login with a Domain account, create a standard user in AD under the Users container and see if that works on the PC.
DJ-1701 Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Complete new set up laptop is using windows 10 education, server 2012r2 I had to manually tell the laptop the DNS address if this helps Should be able to push the DNS address out with DHCP. Are you getting an IP address? tried this and nothing Which one did you try?
chromedome Posted October 24, 2016 Author Posted October 24, 2016 do i have to have an active internet connection to the server?
chromedome Posted October 24, 2016 Author Posted October 24, 2016 both! and yes it has picked up an ip address from within the scope
chromedome Posted October 24, 2016 Author Posted October 24, 2016 update, I have disconnected from the network, and removed entry from AD computers, DNS and DCHP when I have reconnected AD Computers finds the IP along with DNS but DHCP does not, and i still can not log in on the laptop
