Hi,

 

Any ideas how to disable the internal speaker of an optiplex computer but not the external audio output. Bit of a nighmare in a classroom if they are all making sound at the sametime!!!!

Great thanks for the info. Do you think that disabling it in the BIOS will stop the card working through the 3.5mm rear output jack or just the internal speaker? Looks like disabling the internal speaker on them all is the safest option!

 

Would you know how to push the audio through the 3.5mm jack rather than it all going through the HDMI cable? having this problems when setting up a teachers machine with a projector and dual screen.

I don't know the answer to these questions, and I don't have any 3040s to experiment with. Maybe someone who already has some will know more?

I have a few 3020s and disable the inbuilt speaker - the 3.5mm jack still works.

 

You can also use this to create a package to modify the bios settings and push it out via SCCM or a script.

 

Edit - not sure on the HDMI question either.

Not got anything HDMI to test this on, but won't setting the default playback device to be the 3.5mm jack fix this?
