[ubuntu] Linux Mint(xfce) ZOOMED in upon login.

I installed Linux Mint (XFCE) from a USB stick onto this miniture laptop. The first time launch was succesfull but every time since then the screen seems to zoom in. I cannot even navigate the rest of the page using the mouse.

 

any ideas as to why this might be happening?

Is there a way I can boot into safe mode or something? I can get into recovery mode but can't load the desktop, it just gives me options to update the bootloader and a few other things.

 

I still cant log into the computer to check drivers.

It looks like the magnifier accessibility tool is invoked.

 

Have you got some weird netbook keymapping invoking the shortcuts?

Try disabling the zoom in XFCE.
