Printing snapshot from the time we were told they were coming to 3pm on the day they left.

How did you calculate what was lesson plans?

We use Papercut so I searched for printed document name contained our lesson plan Pro forma name or variants of that. E.g Lesson Plan, Lesson Plan 10x/A, and so on. Similar to the file types.

Just goes to show how much schools act up and change when the big O comes in. Which incidentally means they're hiding something and skewing results.

Of course ask any school who *doesn't* do that and I'll doubt there will be a single school.

Conclusion = Ofsted inspections are a waste of time as they are currently; they can't get a realistic picture of a school unless they're going to turn up unannounced.

The amount was not helped by having the freedom of the department not being charged so no one was worried about cost. I'm 99% sure more was printed than was needed for the 2 days.

1200 Students. It's well over normal staff usage.

As a school of just under 1000 students, this can sometimes be a normal days printing for us. Its something i bring up to the business manager constantly but it falls on deaf ears as soon as anyone mentions a possible impact to the good ol' teaching and learning. Handy to have this as something to point to for comparison!

If OfSTED walk into your class, they need context to know that what they are seeing is planned, meeting pupil needs and that progress is being made. Teachers would normally use spreadsheets or tick lists to track and analyse this but OfSTED don't spend long enough in a classroom to go through all of that. Pieces of paper clearly displaying information are the fastest way to communicate a snapshot of what an inspector is seeing. The increase in printing costs is not teachers doing things they wouldn't normally do, it's down to teachers demonstrating what normally happens via non paper-based methods. We had an OfSTED a couple of weeks ago and I watched my printing budget decrease. However, I wouldn't complain about the increased printing costs when OfSTED walks through the door - be thankful that your school doesn't require staff to produce that for every day!
