Hi all,

questions regrading upgrading to VR.

I currently have an Oculus DK1 but i want to purchase either a vive or the official oculus but my graphics card will need to be updated for it to work

first question...

My PC is rigged to my TV, I have no plans for connecting to a monitor!

which of the following do i buy:

RX480 or a GTX 1060 (i can buy now...)

or do i wait save and buy a 1070?

then do i buy official oculus or Vive (initial thoughts are vive as i dont need to buy any extras later down the line)...prob make a poll for this ;)

As an owner of a 1080 i would suggest waiting for the 1070,

My colleague recently got a Rift (i have a rift also) and he has a 1070 and says it runs great, same as mine.

I would go Rift over Vive, the Rift has a lot more money behind it and looks like a much bigger future than the Vive imo (I am bias as i do own one)

My vote's for get a 1070 and buy a Vive. a 980Ti should be 'good enough' for VR but if you've got the cash, 1070 is more futureproof.

Yes, the Rift has a larger financial backing at the moment, but with Vive being spearheaded by Valve, I expect we're going to see a lot more stuff aimed at the Vive in the coming years.

Plus, I can't in good conscience support facebook with their Oculus-exclusive buyouts and constant need to stalk you. But that's just me. Maybe you can.

I don't get the feeling of being stalked, so far there is 0 facebook intergration with Oculus (there is soon with the messanger etc)

But my rift is not tied in anyway to facebook, also the rift does work with Steam and a lot of the major games, once the touch controls are out it will more than likeily have the same games list as the Vive within 6 months. As at the end of the day all it is a monitor with some motion controls on it!

Plus i wouldnt care if i did have to attach it to facebook i give 0 cares about all of my personal information. (Just mine not other peoples)

Oculus 'Always On' Services and Privacy Policy May Be a Cause for Concern (Updated) - UploadVR

Facebook be gettin' their creep on.

It's not that they're doing massively creepy, unethical, or simply dubious things at the moment, but the fact that you agree to let them do it in the future concerns me. And it's facebook. They will do unethical things if they feel they can benefit from it (such as manipulating user feeds to toy with their emotional state.)

Vive don't got any of that for what I've read.
