People who say "there's an error message" but don't tell you what it is are one of my real pet hates - it doesn't give you much to go on if you want to help :)

i am so, so sorry the error is a general error "Error 1054: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"

Ok... as Lee_K_81 suggested, what does it say in event log?

You sure it's 1054? 1054 is usually "A thread could not be created for the service. "

1053 is The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Could you confirm which you have?

the exact error message is:

"Could not start the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service on Local Computer.

Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"
