KCMD Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Just setting up scheduled reports and the instructions I have say to "...select the roles of the individuals who will be responsible for setting up the scheduling of autoreports e.g. School Administrator and System Manager" which isn't helpful because neither of them have the 'Core > Home Page > Report Execution Manager' permission. Does anyone know which role contains this?
KCMD Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 Ignore me, I'm an idiot. I needed to click the Add Permissions to the Group button on the right in System Manager
KCMD Posted September 21, 2016 Author Posted September 21, 2016 (I wasn't sure whether to start a new thread or not but I've run into another issue with this.) When running autoreports.exe with the /S /D and /T flags I get the following error: I assume it's permissions but not sure whether they are NTFS, SIMS or even SQL permissions. I may also be way off with my guess.
IWDave Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I have this in my scheduled batch file: Echo Running Scheduled Reports call "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SIMS2012\MSSQL\Binn\AutoReports.exe" /T /S:myservername\SIMS2012 /D:SIMS
KCMD Posted September 21, 2016 Author Posted September 21, 2016 I'm running it manually while I'm setting it up so I've got: "E:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SIMS2012\MSSQL\Binn\autoreports.exe" /S:myservername\sims2012 /D:sims /T The account has the same permissions as a staff member. It has a SIMS account with the same username and password. Does anyone have any instructions, the ones from Crapita are...well crap.
pete Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 We're running it as a scheduled task on the SIMS server, using the "start a program" option, with the command line: DriveLetter:\SQL2012Prod\MSSQL11.SIMS2012\MSSQL\Binn\AutoReports.exe /S:ServerName\InstanceName /D:SIMS /T The "simsscheduledreports" account we're using to run the task has: Membership of a custom SIMS group with "Reports" and "Execute Scheduled Report" permissions (our SIMS accounts are AD-linked). Local admin access on the SIMS server (in order to be able to faff with scheduled tasks - NB: you could probably trim this down, but this is what got it working for us). The task kicks off at 19:00 every day and gets killed if it runs longer the 4 hours (mainly a safeguard against clashing with backup jobs).
KCMD Posted September 21, 2016 Author Posted September 21, 2016 (edited) I tried setting the reportsuser as a local admin, same error. The SIMS account isn't AD linked, maybe that's the problem? Is that easy to set up for one user? EDIT: I found this post, is it still relevant and will it muck anything up if I edit the connect.ini on the SIMS server? http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/15643-sims-net-active-directory-integration.html#post156838 Edited September 21, 2016 by KCMD
pete Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 ^ the "/T" switch in the command line you're using means "trusted", which is short for "the account running this scheduled task has sufficient permissions in SIMS/SQL to query the necessary info in the database". If that's not the case you'll need to specify the SIMS username and password on the command line instead.
