jamwatn Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Hey, I've just rebuilt school onto a new domain. One of the teachers' has a workgroup machine and after reconnecting her home folder to the new server, I'm unable to set the drive to 'Available offline', I get an access denied error. Any ideas? I've done some good searching and I've come up with various things but nothing concrete. Thanks
DCUK6 Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 On the the file server have you added permissions for staff to see all folders in the share? EG. \\server\users$\Bob bob would need to have access to see all folders in the users$ share, doesnt need to be able to inside other peoples folders though. https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/dc594a07-7702-4b68-acc5-17213805fec2/files-remain-offline-not-connected-after-connection-to-the-network?forum=itprovistanetworking mcserob posts on here is good. Here my offline GPO
dry Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Here my offline GPO A question for you: I see you've got 'Sync all offline files before logging off' and 'Sync all offline files when logging on' set to enabled. Does this have a siginificant impact on logon/logoff speed? I can imagine staff here trying to sync gigabytes of data and moaning when it takes a few minutes before logging off! Presumably you've got quotas set and file screening enforced to prevent anything too big being copied across?
DCUK6 Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Staff have quotas set on their drive of 10gb. Had it setup like that for a few years and not had any issues with login times. The sync all button takes just a few seconds to finish. Only time it would ever be a issue is if that put loads of data on their laptop out of school. Think its a background task though as i have never seen the logon delayed for sync tasks. 1
