Since there's plenty of coverage of the two other current space games (Elite & No man's Sky) I figured it's time to have a thread to talk about Star Citizen.

Admittedly my knowledge of it is still fairly limited, but after seeing the live demo at Gamescom last week I decided to take the plunge and invest the £40 I nearly spent on No Man's Sky into early access for SC.

It's a game that clearly requires much work, but oh my it has such potential!

The attention to detail is staggering, and though it'll probably mean a smaller universe to explore than either ED or NMS, I feel it'll be a far richer experience.

If you haven't already, take a look at the footage below.

You might be right of course, but looking back over the dev history they are making excellent progress.

If alpha 3.0 is anything to go by, then they're getting things moving quite well now.

It's a huge ask to build what they promised, but it's certainly getting there. :)

Yeh I am a backer. The problem is the general public have absolutely no idea about game development, they do not realise that every game that comes out takes 4 or more years to make, you just don't hear anything about it for 3.5 years. SC is in its 4th year and it's still got over a year to go - frankly what the game is delivering already is literally game changing, the effort and polish on everything is "next gen" and the crowd funded nature with no publisher/multinational conglomerate to push their own agendas/ruin the game (look at no mans sky) is very refreshing and could set the standard of how games should be developed over the next decade or two.

Lets get one thing straight, if you back the game with the starter package, you get two games for £40 odd, you get the multiplayer persistent universe, which is actually 3 games in 1 (eve online, elite dangerous, no mans sky) and you get the single player campaign a 'la mass effect series. It's a bargain, you just need to be patient, there is no publisher to rush the release schedule, it will be released when it is ready. Which is not yet!!!

People babble on about the outrageous sums of money raised via the kickstarter - people need to get real, we've raised $120million to create what will be hands down the most amazing game created so far. it's not much money at all, Destiny cost $500 million just to rehash halo and add persistent multiplayer. Star citizen is providing us outstanding value for money compared to all the other AAA games that have ever come out. Star Wars battlefront cost over $50 million and that was just a quick 5 minute re skin of Battlefield with a handful of maps thrown in and barely any other content. Yet people lap it up.

Game developers (Publishers and Studios) have got lazy - IMHO star citizen will wake the world up top what can be achieved.
