Machines keep logging on local admin

Hi,

 

I have three computer rooms where every machine logs on the local administrator account every time they turn on. They are built from the same image and have the same policies applied as all the others which do not do this.

 

Any help would be great

They different models of pc? Normally things like that happen when the image has been interrupt and not finished off the install, so it's locked in the stage where admin auto logins to complete the domain join.

 

You checked the machine to see if the NIC is live with drivers?

Two rooms are the same model and the third is a different model. But this third model I have in other rooms without the problem. But then the image is the same for all of them so if the image is stuck, that should be the case for all of them?

 

I have checked and they have the drivers.

That's very strange then. I can understand if no password is set and it's the only enabled account then it might just log on by itself. But to log on automatically when there is a password set is very strange as if you had set up and auto-logon thing then you'd have to at some point enter the password.

You can check. Just run netplwiz.exe on the computer effected using Run or in cmd.

The 'users must enter a username and password to use this computer' is not checked on these computers and if I check them then they work correctly.

 

Is there a policy I can edit to change this on all of them?

If you do a quick Google you'll see there is a registry key you can change. You could push that out via a Group Policy (if you test it and it works).

I changed the registry key to disable AutoAdminLogon
