Theldron Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Hi all, I am setting up PRTG to monitor our printers, but I am having trouble. We have 3 models of Toshiba e-studio printers 262, 263 and 2040. SNMP availability on these printers is different, 262/263 - (SNMP - V1 & V3), 2040 - (SNMP - V1, V2 & V3). I have setup the printers to use SNMP V3, but still could not get it to work. Friday I found that the Context Names for the printers are different and I cannot change them. Does anyone know how I can get around this? Can i put in multiple context names in the PRTG SNMP printer monitor? Or can I use SNMP V2 and V3 at the same time? Or can anyone recommend an alternative monitoring system? To be honest it will mainly be used to monitor Printers, Servers and switches. Cheers
jamesfed Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Easily sorted - you will need to disable inheritance on the printers that you need to configure with the separate SNMP username/password/community string. Head to the device and then go to Settings > untick the 'inherit from xyz' box under Crednetials for SNMP Devices and enter what you need in the boxes below.
