Need a printer...

Hi all,

 

I'm in the midst of planning the ICT infrastructure for a new college that's opening in two phases. Phase 1 (September) will contain a couple of classes, offices and a communal area, while Phase 2 (Easter) will be a much bigger build that will contain the bulk of the teaching spaces, ICT Suite, etc. We're looking at leasing a MFP (similar to our current Konica Minolta BizHubs)when Phase 2 opens as it ties in with the end of another MFP contract on our school site, so we're hoping to get a better deal by negotiating for two printers at once. However, that leaves me short on options for the first four months of the college.

 

What I'm looking for is an affordable, stand-alone printer (no PC required after perhaps an initial setup) - preferably a laserjet - that can act as a network printer, but also scan to e-mail/cloud services. I want to buy this outright rather than lease it, and I don't really want to pay over £500 (but less is good). I've come across plenty of printers that claim to scan to email, but most of them simply drop an attachment into a new email on the local printer they're attached to and so are useless for my needs.

 

If anyone has any recommendations for printers they use that have this functionality please drop a comment below!

We've got an hp officejet pro X576dw in the main office here, and its been really reliable. We don't push huge amounts through it, prob about 2000 pages a month, as we have networked copiers everywhere else. It's really fast, networked, touch screen for things like emailing and just seems to work. Takes huge ink cartridges that seem to last ages - not sure of exact page counts we get out of them though. I'd never seriously considered an inkjet for network use before, but have been really happy with it. Is only A4 though, not sure if you needed A3?
