Windows 10 KMS (Upgraded)

Hi Everyone, Just a small puzzle that I am trying to solve. We used to have a Windows 8 KMS Host on site to activate all our windows installs. This worked great and activated everything that was windows 8.1 or lower including windows 7. We have upgraded this to a Windows 10 KMS host after requesting the key from Microsoft. This works great for windows 10 machines and windows 8 but it appears to not be activating windows 7 installs anymore and is marking them as not genuine. We know this is defiantly not correct but cannot think why this has suddenly started happening.

 

Any ideas are appreciated.

You need the "Windows 10 KMS key for Windows Server 2012 R2" (or very similar named) and install this on a Server 2012 R2 server. That will then activate all Windows server and client version.

 

The Windows 10 KMS key will only activate Windows 10.

Hi, This doesn't appear to be true. We are activating windows 10 clients using the windows 10 KMS key on a standard operating system not a server.

But thats not what I said. - I didn't say you needed it to have it on a server to activate Windows 10. I said a Windows 10 KMS key will only activate Windows 10. To activate other OS you need "Windows 10 KMS key for Windows Server 2012 R2".

No i realised that however its activating windows 8 machines just fine with the windows 10 kms key :S

Might be because they are very similar back end. The KMS key I described earlier will activate Windows 7.
