Can I get the server to email me?

Just wondered if it's possible to get a server to email me when it has completed some tasks. This is only a small primary school and we use Google Apps for our email but not sure if server 2012r2 has any method of sending emails.

 

I think it's possible with an onsite email system just not sure with Gmail type setup.

The PowerShell Send-MailMessage cmdlet (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh849925.aspx) is a good place to start - depends what the tasks you are running really....

Was going to start with the Windows backup. apparantly you can trigger a task from the backup which can then send an email. Only onsite for 3 hours per week so this has not been at the top of my list, but would be very handy.
