Apple MDM Problem

Hello,

 

Just wondering if any body has had this problem and knows a possible solution as this is all new to me trying to learn about apple products and setups.

 

I am working at various schools and they all have a MDM solution on site to manage iPads. The iPads are all up to date with the latest ios including the Server.

I make sure all the iPads have the apps installed before i put them back in the classrooms but after a short while all the apps start to reinstall this is becoming very frustrating as no one can use the iPads as they are constantly installing apps.

 

The iPads sync with the server over the wireless if i turn the sync off this will probably solve the problem but if i send out new apps i will need to turn it back on again but then i will be back to square one again with all the apps installing.

 

Profiles are on the iPads with restrictions as well as blueprints i am using apple configurator 2.

 

Any help or advice is appreciated.

Is it not the apps auto updating the self?

Hi,

 

No I thought that at first but it is not that you usually get a small light at the bottom of the app icon to tell you an update is available.

But all the apps just start downloading again I could understand if it was the odd app but not all of them all the time.

I am using Mac OSX Server EL Capitan Version 10.11.5

Profile Manager to Configure the iPads with restrictions.

Apple Configurator 2 To add blue prints to the iPads.

So presumably you are using AC2 to auto enrol the iPads into Profile Manager, by adding the url for Profile Manager in AC2?

I don't know why you just don't use Profile Manager on it's own..?

I am just using what was previously setup at the school.

 

Devices automatically enrol into profile manager. The main problem is before i can send out any apps the apps on the iPad reinstall and when it finally stops installing and you send an app out to the iPads they seem to install all the apps again as well as install the app you just sent out.

Sounds like you are adding an app to the users profile rather than just the app itself, so that a user is getting all the other app at the same time..have you tried adding the app via device assignment..?

Apps are installed to the Devices groups in profile manager and not users, the apps are set to install automatically in this group.
