chrispounds Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Hi All, We discovered a student had put their Asus 2in1 into "tablet mode" via the action center today. GPO restricts them from getting there the conventional way, but the swipe in from the right still opens it up and allows them to change it. After googling and finding the GPO to apply - Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Edge UI i come to search our GPO list and it isnt there? Nor is it on the local machines, Also, while trying to do it via regedit, that particular registry key isnt there either. Is it missing from some windows versions? we are running Win10 Edu Chris
Garacesh Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 It's not there for me, either. The only option for me in Edge UI (which is exactly where it's supposed to be) is "Disable Help Tips" Annoying, as I wouldn't mind turning off the Edge UI so they can't get to the notification centre and accompanying settings. We use mandatory profiles so as soon as they logoff any changes are destroyed, but still, I'd rather it be gone.
chrispounds Posted June 22, 2016 Author Posted June 22, 2016 Yeah, just looked through Microsoft's spreadsheet of win10 admx files When looking at edgeui.admx there is no mention of disabling the swipe gestures, although wherever i google, they have the policy there in front of them. Very weird.
jamesfed Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Is it possible you are still running the RTM version of the Windows 10 GPOs? The Version 1511 policies were released a little while back which could well include the policy you are after - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48257 1
Arthur Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 I come to search our GPO list and it isnt there? Assuming you are looking for the "Allow Edge Swipe" policy, it shows up in build 14361 but not in build 10586. Did you try setting the relevant registry value? Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\EdgeUI] "AllowEdgeSwipe"=dword:00000000 1
chrispounds Posted June 23, 2016 Author Posted June 23, 2016 I did try creating the reg key, to no avail, didn't seem to stick, i will have a look at the build version and see what variant of policies we have here. Thanks for your help!
