LINX 1010 EFI Boot from USB

Hi all,

 

anyone able to help me out with getting a linx 1010 to boot in UEFI mode from a windows 10 USB stick.

 

struggling how to map/mount the USB volume to kick off the install process.

1st time using UEFI/EFI (applied an image using dism and its borked the tablet so looking to kick off a fresh install and go from there)

Is the image you are using 32 or 64 bit? Is the firmware of the LINX 32 or 64 bit? If the Firmware of the LINX is 32 bit and you have 64 bit image you are not going to get far, as we have found out recently.

x64 was what was installed on there so tried putting a x86 image to match was we currently run and it does appear to boot so wanted to just run a windows install off a USB to get it usable.

 

with the older linx 10 i can get into the bios screen and select which device i wish to boot with these i can only get what i am assuming is pure UEFI and wont allow me to select a boot device (on has windows boot manager / internal EFI shell)

 

so the thinking was to boot into the EFI shell and then go from there?

You have to get the partitions right if using diskpart. Microsoft do a tool to do it for you.

I've been using clonezilla (there is a version that supports UEFI). Created my image then ran sysprep and saved. Works ok maybe not ideal if you have lots to image.

attempted to create a USB boot using rufus USB tool which made a UEFI bootable USB, i boot the linx (holding down the + volume and the power button) and then boot from file, select bootx64.efi and it comes back says its failed / not supported.

 

so essentially the device is bricked in its current state and i cant recover it to a work state

well recreating the image using a 32bit version of windows 10 and it appears to want to boot off that.

i was under the impression that EFI booting was only supported on 64bit media?
