How do I double install a local printer in Windows 10?

I have just updated my home PC to windows 10 from 7 and, so far, everything seems to be working.

 

Except I had my colour LaserJet double installed as both a mono and a colour printer (it helps Mr gee40 who struggles with such technicalities). Now windows has conveniently left me with a single install.

 

I could spend ages trying to beat it into submission, or I could cheat and ask you lot. I've opted for the latter. Any tips please?

First of all, I would right click it and hover over Printer Properties to make sure it didn't just merge the Printer into one object.

 

If not I would go to Add a printer, select 'The printer that I want isn't listed', select 'Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings' and click Next. Select the existing port for the setup printer, click Next, select the driver and finish the installation. Then I would change the option to Greyscale for the one you wish to be black and white.

Yeah. I got that far. It's helpfully not showing the driver for the printer, presumably because it's already installed and in use with a printer (Grr)

On mine by default it went to Brother (helpful, not), I had to select the HP section and then the model of printer, then it asked me if I wanted to keep the existing drive.

I'm getting it go to HP but the driver I need isn't listed. Bizarre! It's using the correct driver for the main install

I have just tried a reboot to see what that does

There will be other things up its sleeve I am sure. Mr gee40 not liking at the moment - but he's not great with technology at the best of times.

 

It's going to have to seriously pig me off before I revert. He will have to learn
