Hi, still getting my head around bits of O365

In Active Directory we have a number of security groups which make it easy to assign access to different folders, I'm sure everyone has a similar setup - a 'staff' group that contains all members of staff etc.

I want to use exactly the same (or near enough) to make it easier to control access to folders, group sites and team sites.

If I create an O365 Group, go to 'add members' I only seem to be able to add individuals. This isn't useful. Can anyone advise?

I presume you are syncing AD with Office 365?

The groups need to have an email address assigned to them before it will allow you to share with.

Yes, we are syncing AD with Office 365. The groups in AD are mail enabled (universal) security groups but I can't seem to add them as members to an 'O365 Group'

If I click on 'add members' and search for the AD security group email address, it isn't found

Playing around with things...

In O365 admin I've created a mail enabled security group called 'mytest'

I can create a folder in my OneDrive and share it with mytest. This doesn't show up in their OneDrive but they can search for it in Delve (which seems a bit... hmmm... not straightforward)

When they view the folder in Delve, they get the option to share it again with other users... again this doesn't seem great

If I create a test group and try to add 'mytest' as a member, it cannot find it in the directory

This is obviously some sharing 101 stuff that I'm having issues with here, can anyone advise?
