Synology NAS & Google Cloud Storage

Morning all

 

I'm currently using BackupAssist to take regular scheduled backups of our servers direct to a Synology NAS on-site. This morning I set up a trial for Google Cloud Storage with a view to having the NAS replicate the data it holds up to Google's cloud.

 

Is anyone else doing this? It seemed really simple to set up and has now started syncing, however I want to be sure I have it set correctly so that the process is automated and working the way I want.

 

With our daily backups, the backups are incremental, therefore there shouldn't be too much data sent at any one time, save for the initial sync, is this correct?

 

Secondly, the NAS has two options with regard to re-linking. Re-fetch locally deleted files, or remove them from the cloud.

 

I'm thinking I'd want the latter, so as not to confuse the backup system. There's no sense overwriting an old backup via BackupAssist if the NAS then downloads the old data from GCS on top of it. Does that make sense?
