[ms office - 2013] Disabling SpellCheck/Autocorrect Grief - Exams - Word 2013

Morning All,

 

Having a lot of issues trying to disable all the Spell check/autocorrect options in Word 2013.

 

We've done all the options online like the disable commands code and the registry keys, but everytime we try it we've managed to find a way around it.

 

Could someone who's got it locked down (in their opinion ) try this and let me know what they get:

 

Open Word, Go to Home -> Paste -> Paste Options -> Set Default Paste -> (Brings up options) -> Proofing -> "check spelling as you type" enable it -> Try spelling stuff wrong, and it fixes it again

 

Unless we're missing an option there seems to be nowhere to disable the Options tab to re-enable it from multiple places

I have it applied to PCs and security filtered to users who need it applying.

We've tried that one and get the same outcome. Could you try the above method I mentioned on yours and see the outcome you get?

 

It all looks locked down, but as soon as you go to options via the Paste button you can re-enable it all as any user.

Why don't you just use Wordpad or Notepad?

Exam board provide a specific file they need to use for this exam, lots of tables/formatting etc. Needs to be Word

Dont use word, just use Text Edit / Notepad - easy to disable.

Time to look at the IDs to see if we can disable that menu/button:

I think PasteSetDefault is a strong contender, ID 14585.

Aye it's dumb aint it haha. Aye we considered doing that but what if another button has same thing. Was one of the first we tried to test it on and found it.

Bump, know a lot were at EDIT yesterday so wonder if anyone who's back had any ideas or has a resolution?
