gaz003 Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 I have managed to lock down the windows start menu searches with the user of cortana and the internet But I have one last niggly issue.... If I log on as a student click the windows start menu icon - start typing windows searches the local computer and displays a long list of results. Although I have pretty much locked all the apps down it is still frustrating they are able to do this. Has anyone managed to find a work around group policy for this issue?
Garacesh Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 This doesn't work for any of my users (local admin or network users).. I'll review my policy, see if I can find out what's disabling it. Must be something in Computer Policy if it effects the local admin account, too.. Give me some time. I'll get back to you on that one.
Garacesh Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Hmm, honestly I'm not sure Only policies I can find related to searching are: Allow Cortana: Disabled Do not allow web search: Enabled Don't search the web or display web results in Search: Enabled All of which are in Computer, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Search
gaz003 Posted May 27, 2016 Author Posted May 27, 2016 Thanks for your help, I have the same settings set in group policy? bit of a mystery. I will check some more settings in case I have a duplicate somewhere
