Unable to download PDFs from any browser.

Afternoon

 

I have a user that is able to open PDFs but unable to download from neither Chrome, Firefox or IE to keep.

This is neither through adobe reader once the file has opened in the browser or by right clicking the hyperlink and saving.

 

So although able to open a PDF successfully both in Adobe Reader directly or the browser where the file is presumably downloaded to the temp folder.

When attempting to download a chosen file you are prompted to choose the save directory and then that's it. No data actually gets created accept Chrome generating an empty temp file in the download location that never increases in size.

Aside from this the browser appears to get slower and opening the download list seems to be impossible whilst the download isn't in fact downloading at all.

Interestingly whilst this is going on for example in Chrome, it isn't possible to even open Internet Explorer.

This would suggest to me that the Adobe Plugin is interfering regardless of whether the file is open and whilst it is crashing in one browser is preventing another from opening until the task is killed.

 

Initially clearing the cache seemed to resolve the issue but it keep cropping up again and this time it's stuck.

Not only has the cache been cleared but Adobe Reader which is DC on the occasion, the application has also been removed before reinstalling the most recent edition.

Following this I've removed the user's local user profile as an experiment and allowed it to be recreated but to no avail.

 

I've of course reinstalled Chrome to rule that out also.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the response.

It would indeed appear that I am able to download PDFs successfully with a different user logged on.

This is why it seems strange that even after recreating his profile he still has an issue.

His redirected appdata folder has been purged of Adobe directories also.
