Macromedia MX applications take ages to load ip

the subject title should say load up no load ip sorry

 

We have a suite of emacs with OS X 10.4 that are controlled via a 10.4 server. They were set up in the normal manner so that when a pupil logs on the document folder, desktop, pictures etc was their own. unfortunatly this means that applications such as office write several files back to the server whenever they are opened which means the applications can take ages to open. I have set up a test open directory server on OS x10.4 and got a 10.4 laptop to to become a client to it. I am testing out a soloution that was found at http://jochner.dyndns.org/NHR/Welcome.html. it seems to be working for office 2004 but on our machines we use Macromedia MX suite and it's these applications that are taking up to 20 mins to load and the scripts dont seem to have an affect on the macromedia applications. Is their something similar to the application on the forementioned web site that could do the trick with the macromedia appps.

As far as i can tell there is no macromedia folders in the ~/Library/cache folder so this wouldn't help by redirecting it.

Although there is a Macromedia folder in ~/Library/Application Support/ which on my admin system is 90meg over time. but Each app on a fresh start up only copies 500k or so so shouldn't be a problem.

 

Does the app load quickly on a local admin account? does it happen any where else or is it just these macs?

 

try cleaning out ~/Library/Preferences/ for any macromedia prefs and deleting the macromedia folder from ~/Library/Application Support/ in every home folder.

 

Something sounds very fishy even on our bondi iMacs that we had last year, MX would start up within 30 seconds.
